First impressions after 25 years:
Being in industries where employee turnover runs rampant, I'd really underestimated the idea that there are still people who work the same job for 20 years. I'd underestimated how many people marry childhood sweethearts and not wind up in the divorce statistics. And I'd really underestimated the role of religion.
Our homecoming queen has joined the Amish. (The joke among the boys was she wasn't at the reunion because it was too far for the buggy). One of the class dumplings is now a Zen Buddhist, which means we've literally covered religion from A to Z. One woman in attendance would look at home on Jim and Tammy Faye's couch.
Then there was the beautiful man with the beautiful voice. I asked him if he still sang. "In church," was his answer.
